And on the 8th day.....

And on the eighth day...I'm still going!
OK...I'll admit it (only here though!) I am a slight Zedaholic! so the resto continues.  One thing I have discovered is that restoring or 'modding' an old car can take some serious cash! Therein lies the problem, how can you raise a family and spend money on a car?  it takes some imagination and the ability to be entrepreneurial to be ready to overcome, improvise and adapt (from Heartbreak Ridge...the movie!).  I figured that Ebay was for more than emptying my wallet, it was an easy means of filling it too!  I began to search around for different bargains both here in Oz and in the U.S and then resell them, No I'm not ready to retire but it has provided some of the necessary funds for my resto.  The other big dollar saver for me is (thanks to the way God geared me) I'm just about able to do anything that I put my hand to! I watch, ask questions, read forums and then simply have 'a go' (famous Aussie life principle).  doing as much as you can yourself on your car will not only save you heaps of cash but gives you a greater investment of 'self' into you pride and joy.

2008 has seen me complete more on my car than I probably expected.  Thanks to my litttle bro (spyder) we put some racing stripes on the Zed in a unique matt finish which really stands out.  Another big bonus was having a friend who's bro lives in New York who could buy the wheels I wanted and ship them to me 'downUnder'. I ended up with a 'staggered' set of wheels 16x7.5 Front & 16x8.5 rear, I've ended up putting Falken 225 tyres all round.  I'd also noticed on a few 2 seater Zed's the nice Fg flared arches, I spoke to a few people who said they wouldn't fit a 2+2! Well for anyone that knows me that's like a red rag to a bull!  so I found some locally and I had them fitted and painted in a couple of days with no problem in either fit or aesthetics.  With the stripes and wheels and flares it was beginning to look a little more what I pictured when I first laid eyes on her.

I liked the 'bumperless' look however you are left with all of the mounting holes and the gaping cut outs that were designed for the U.S market bumpers (our models had rubbers stuck in these craters!)  Uhmmm need to do something about the rear end AND the whole car needs to be lowered!

Well that's for the next page!  Click on the Z logo for the next update page.
